Garden & Dog Friendly Stays

Fresh air, open views and a garden of your own

Space to sit outside, dine in the open air and enjoy the landscape at a slower pace

The garden at Netherwood Lodge gives guests a private outdoor space in which to enjoy the countryside.

Morning coffee can be taken outside when the weather allows. Lunch can become a picnic without leaving the property. In the evening, gather around the garden table, prepare something on the barbecue and watch the changing light settle across the surrounding fields.

Outdoor furniture is provided for four guests, creating a natural extension of the lodge’s open-plan living space.

Garden

The garden surrounding the lodge makes it more convenient for guests travelling with a dog or young children.

It remains important to supervise dogs outdoors, particularly in a rural setting where livestock and wildlife may be nearby. The garden should not be accepted as escape-proof unless its fencing and gate heights have been specifically checked for individual dogs.

To preserve the standard of the accommodation, dogs must remain off beds and upholstered furniture and should not enter the bedrooms.

The minimum stay is generally three nights,

Holidays with your dog

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and subject to the applicable charge.

Dogs must remain off beds and furniture and should not enter the bedrooms. Owners are responsible for supervising their dog in the garden and for cleaning up after it.

The lodge is particularly practical for dog owners because the accommodation is arranged on one level and includes useful storage for boots, leads, towels and outdoor clothing.

After a day exploring woodland or countryside paths, muddy equipment can be left in the storage and drying area rather than carried through the main living space.

To preserve the standard of the accommodation, dogs should remain off beds and upholstered furniture and should not enter the bedrooms.

Walking, woodland and open country

The surrounding area offers a broad choice of outdoor experiences, from gentle woodland walks to longer routes through the hills and forests of Dumfries and Galloway.

Mabie Forest combines walking routes with family-friendly trails and mountain-bike facilities. Further west, Galloway Forest Park offers an extensive landscape of woodland, lochs and hills, as well as exceptionally dark night skies.

Closer to the Solway coast, wetlands, saltmarsh and estuary landscapes provide opportunities for quieter walks and wildlife watching.

Outdoor dining

Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided for guests.

The kitchen and outdoor area work naturally together, whether you are preparing breakfast outside, opening a bottle of wine in the evening or cooking a simple supper after a full day of exploration.

The setting lends itself to informal meals, with no reservation times and no need to dress for dinner.

Parking and electric vehicles

There is parking for two cars beside the lodge.

An external 7kw electric charger is available for electric-vehicle charging by arrangement, with guests supplying the appropriate connector and cable.
